Please join us for our Gaye Holud (translates to "turmeric on the body"), which is a pre-wedding ceremony where turmeric paste is applied to the groom and the bride. Turmeric is known to have healing properties, and its application on the skin is thought to bring a distinct glow to the bride and groom for their upcoming wedding day. It is an important pre-wedding tradition in Bengal, the area of India where Poorna's family is from. We look forward to sharing this tradition with our guests.

The Gaye Holud will be a casual and fun event. Lunch will be served alongside traditional Bengali sweets. A mehndi ('henna') artist will be available for anyone who would like to beautify their hands.

We welcome all members of your family, including children.

A portion of this event will be outdoors - it may be chilly and possibly rainy! Please dress accordingly! Lunch will be served indoors.

Arun and Sarmistha Chowdry, father and mother of the bride, invite you to our traditional Bengali (Indian) ceremony in the Woodcliff reception hall (event center).

Indian wedding ceremonies involve many rituals and traditions that may be unfamiliar to some of our guests. For this reason, we will be providing narration in addition to a printed program. We are excited to share this unique experience with all of our guests.

Lunch will be provided following the ceremony.

All members of your family are welcome, including children.

This ceremony will be indoors with the exception of the Baraat (arrival of the groom) at 10:30am.

Paul and Poorna, alongside their parents, are excited to host an intimate western (American) wedding ceremony the evening of their wedding day. We hope you understand our decision to make our western ceremony limited to our closest friends and family. We will include details in the invitations to follow.

This event is outdoors, please dress accordingly! There is minimal walking on the grass/ground, but the chairs are on soft ground - so stilleto-style shoes may sink.
